The Best Method

There is a method that is the absolute best and efficient. What I mean by that is, your income will always be at maximum based on the circumstances. And here are some notes I wanted to state on that:
1) First off, in order to get the max income, you must spend as little lumber as possible. AS POSSIBLE. One method is to team base with someone without helping them. What I mean by that is, simply build goldmines, vaults, and houses in their base, but don't build any towers or useless structures; Let your ally build everything alone, and you will simply focus on goldmines in their base. This is the most efficient manner of building because you don't have to bother with towers or walls. PS:teambase with a reliable partner!
2) Get a good start. What I mean by that is, choose a good lumber base that will provide max lumber.
3) Get a slayer asap and rack up as many items as possible. I will make a guide to get items efficiently soon.
4) After you finish your lumber base, make a back-up lumber base, and after that, blink to an empty base. Build one house close to trees, and wait. What this achieves is, the moment your slayer steals and sells 2 gold, your pez will be automatically ready to build a vault. Once your vault is done, you already have a house to upgrade instantaneously. Nice and efficient right? 
5) Call someone to team base with you. Tell them to take care of both walls and towers.
6) Note on best lumber base: The best beginning base to lumber at is probably the bottom right from center. The reason it is the best is because it has so many trees cramped so close together meaning you can get all your workers on the trees at the fastest rate. (I never base there though, I don't know why.)
7) Note on getting early items: I noticed that if you build a line of houses, you can keep your slayer on one side, and be ready to get items while the vamp attacks on the other side. If you do this you will have a good chance at getting items no matter how fast and pro the vamp is. Remember, you want to get 2 gold before 3:30.
8 ) All in all, don't spend lumber on anything other than the necessary and your income should be at max. If you do this right, getting t2 at 13:00-13:30 will be common for you.
