u mean phalanxes? and there is no difference, a phalanx is the form in which hoplites went to battle, many other peoples tried to copy that tactic but it was the greek hoplites who invented it

well with phalanx you mean the formation the soldiers are in. and phalanges are the special soldiers, with the like 2 to 6 meter long spears and small sized, light shields, in this formation.
hoplites build also the phalanx formation but they have heavy shields and a short spear, which they use different than the phalanges do. there is a huge distinction most of the people dont know. i always thought like you thrall but i found which are accurate and most important: right.
